The time it was a mutiny {2}

Hi guys! Welcome to another edition of the mutiny.

What’s the mutiny you ask? Well, I have always said that I wasn’t going to become a review blog and yet, I’ve had this itch in the back of my head… so here we are. I’m waging a mutiny against myself and I’m going to do some mini reviews + feature upcoming reads I’m excited about.

For this specific edition, I’m going to share some my favorite reads of 2018 so, settle in!

Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi — 5 ★ — This was sent to me in a mailing and I hadn’t really seen it around before I received it.  This book slayed me.  It’s the most delicious slow burn story I’ll probably ever read and a perfect example of how two people can connect, even if they rarely see each other in person.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake — 5 ★ —  I have read Ashley’s other books and loved every one of them.  Girl Made of Stars is heartbreaking and so important.  It’s not just about rape, but surviving, enduring, and sometimes just dealing. It is a hard look at consent and victim blaming and every single page of it was amazing.

Little Do We Know by Tamara Ireland Stone — 5 ★ — I don’t think it’s a secret that I love Tamara and all of her words.  Little Do We Know is no exception.  I don’t know how to rave about this one without spoilers, but I will say that the three main characters are all going through something and it was captivating to see how their lives intersected because of it.

Neanderthal Opens the Door to the Universe by Preston Norton — 5 ★ —  This was another book that I was pitched.  I was instantly intrigued by the cover and the synopsis and the story inside was just as fantastic.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang — 5 ★ — I was seeing this one around IG quite often when I finally broke down and requested it. The story is smart and fun and the characters are relatable and easy to root for.  TKQ is probably the book that I’ve pushed at people the most in 2018.

Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean — 5 ★ — Wicked was legit a book that pulled me from a slump.  I wasn’t really into reading anything at the time, but I needed to review this one.  I absolutely devoured it and then read the entire thing the very next day.  I loved the characters, the plot, the banter, the everything.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang — I am so excited that Khai is getting a story.  Also, I’m here for the Stella/Michael appearances.

Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean — Whit {aka: Beast} was an intriguing character from Wicked and I can’t wait to see the lady that brings him to his knees.  And of course, I’m hoping for a few several Felicity and Devil scenes.

What about you? What were your favorite books of 2018? What are you looking forward to in 2019?

    American Panda, House Arrest, Anna and the French Kiss, City of Ghosts, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Disasters, and Girl Against the Universe were some of my favorites I read in 2018. Happy New Year!

    I reread all 10 books of the Percy Jackson series this year and fell in love again. But I also loved Girl Made of Stars, Listen to Your Heart, You’d Be Mine, and I Have Lost My Way. I’m looking forward to some nice, fluffy romances this year. (Hopefully!)

      I haven’t read the Percy books, but I know a lot of people love them…I just might have to give them a try eventually. I hope you find all of the fluffy romance this year.
