The time it was a mutiny {9}

Hi guys! Welcome to another edition of the mutiny.

What’s the mutiny you ask? Well, I have always said that I wasn’t going to become a review blog and yet, I’ve had this itch in the back of my head… so here we are. I’m waging a mutiny against myself and I’m going to do some mini reviews + feature upcoming reads I’m excited about.

For this specific edition, I’m going to share some my favorite reads from August, so settle in!

Hello Girls by Brittany Cavallaro & Emily Henry — 4★ — I didn’t need to know anything more about this book other than it was a sort-of Thelma and Louise story.  I was completely in just with that and the story absolutely delivered. It had a roller coaster of a plot line and two main characters who I was ready to get into the car with.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig — 4★ — I went into this one a little wary because I had been seeing a lot of hype.  This story was so atmospheric and morphed into an amazing unreliable narrator, which is my favorite thing. It kept me guessing until the very end and the epilogue was nearly the most perfect thing ever.

Well Met by Jen DeLuca — 5★ — Once I learned that Jen was mentored by Brighton Walsh, I was sold.  I legit didn’t need to know anything else. The synopsis was fun and I was eager to get to it and when I did, I devoured it.  I loved Emily and Simon and the Faire and the everything.  I know this will be a book I read again.

The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare — 5★ — This was in last month’s Mutiny under the “upcoming excitement” and it delivered.  I loved Penny and Gabe and this group of friends is so supportive.  This story was nearly all fluff and it was perfection.  I am seriously considering a reread of the series.

Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff — I’ve had this one for months, but never got ahead of myself on review books to be able to binge the series. I loved NN and have only read half of GG.  I might just find some recap-y reviews, read those, and then dive in.  I know…I know…don’t @ me.  And before you ask, of course I’ve read the ending.

The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett — I have no idea what this one is about, but it has Jenn’s name on it, so I’ll be reading it.

Frankly in Love by David Yoon — I love this cover so much and the premise sounds great {I love fake dating}, but I’ve seen mixed reviews.  Fingers crossed.

What about you? Have you read any of these books or do you want to?

    I read Frankly in Love and it’s one of my top books of 2019. The cover is indeed eye-catching. The humor inside is my kind, so this book and I became fast friends.

  2. I love hearing that a book was pure fluff! Those books are few and far between, but are my absolute favorite! And I’ve seen a lot of hype for Well Met, so I may just have to check it out to see if it’s my thing.

    Also, I’m currently reading The Lady Rogue at the moment and having such a fun time! It’s a different genre than what Jenn Bennett usually writes, but thankfully she’s still managed to include everything I love about her contemporaries in this one as well! I hope you enjoy it too when you read it!

      I loved Lady Rogue so much. I’m at the point where I’ll legit read anything that has Jenn’s name on it. Well Met was a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it if you give it a try!

  3. I read House of Salt and Sorrows. It was a good book. All of the books sound so interesting that it’s hard to pick just one book to read from the above list.

      For me, it was exactly what I was looking for at the time I read it. I hope you’re enjoying the books you’re reading!
