The time it was a Mutiny {5}

Hi guys! Welcome to another edition of the mutiny.

What’s the mutiny you ask? Well, I have always said that I wasn’t going to become a review blog and yet, I’ve had this itch in the back of my head… so here we are. I’m waging a mutiny against myself and I’m going to do some mini reviews + feature upcoming reads I’m excited about.

For this specific edition, I’m going to share some my favorite reads from April, so settle in!

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
— 5★ — I mean, Amie + Jay + space = awesome.  We all know that.

All Our Broken Pieces by LD Crichton — 5★ — This was a delightful surprise.  I kept putting it off because I expected angsty times and was never in the mood for it.  When I finally decided to settle in, I found an amazing story with characters that I loved from the first page.  Lennon and Kyler’s relationship progressed naturally. Between them, there was humor and swoons and most of all: acceptance. I couldn’t get enough of it. This is one of my top books of 2019.

Fumbled by Alexa Martin — 5★ — I enjoyed Interception, but when I saw Fumbled was going to be TK’s story, I was beside myself.  I loved the snippet we saw of him and I just knew he would be worth the wait…and he was.  Poppy was a formidable MC and I absolutely loved how fierce and loyal she was.  The two of them have history and chemistry and I especially loved the info on football related head injuries.  I’ve seen that there’s going to be another book and I am 10000000% here for it.

Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev — 5★ — Sonali had me at “Pride and Prejudice”, but she’s taken a comfortable story and made it into something wholly unique and devourable.  I was pretty much obsessed with the story at the first page and could not put it down until I was finished with it.  Trisha’s the Darcy and DJ’s the Elizabeth and I was all over their arguing and definitely wanted to smash their faces together the entire book.

Never a Bride by Megan Frampton — 5★ — I’ve read this entire series as it’s released and I’ve enjoyed all of them, but the promise of a fake relationship really made me happy. Della and Griffith have excellent banter and chemistry for days.  There was some outside conflict that helped them get to know each other and I really loved that.  There was a bit with a daughter and the lack of any real contact anyone had with her that was a bit odd, but otherwise, this story was everything I could have wanted.

Unbroken Cowboy by Maisey Yates — 4★ — I’ve been waiting for Bea’s story since this series started and it didn’t disappoint.  Button pushing and banter is one of my favorite parts of any story and this one was drowning in it {that’s a good thing}.  I loved how the relationship progressed and that he was all in before she was.  I was a bit bummed by the sort of all over the place plot and the push and pull, but overall I was really happy with this story.

Don’t Date Rosa Santos by Nina Moreno — I love everything about the synopsis for this book. The end.

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal — I’ve heard so many amazing things about this story and I can’t wait to get to it.

Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston — I’ve seen several reviews stating that this is basically pure fluff and it’s at the top of my upcoming reads pile for that reason alone.

Smitten by the Brit by Melonie JohnsonMichelle and Jessica both loved this book and I’m reading it because of peer pressure {but I was definitely sold at “England”}.

What about you? Have you read any of these books or do you want to?

    Aurora Rising will be a must read for me this year. Red, White, and Royal Blue also is high on my summer reading list.

      Aurora Rising was amazing and one of my top books of the year. I shouldn’t be surprised by what Amie and Jay can do, but they blew me away. I just started Red, White, & Royal Blue and it’s pretty cute so far.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
