The time it was a mutiny

Hi guys! Welcome to the first post of the mutiny.

What’s the mutiny you ask? Well, I have always said that I wasn’t going to become a review blog and yet, I’ve had this itch in the back of my head… so here we are. I’m waging a mutiny against myself and I’m going to do some mini reviews + feature upcoming reads I’m excited about.

There will likely be a YA and an adult {aka romance} section and it’ll be a little more detailed then the monthly recap, but not a full blown review, like on GR.  Obviously, I’m hoping to make this a monthly feature, so keep your fingers crossed.

And now, settle in!

dance of thieves by Mary Pearson — 5 ★ — i loved this book with a sickness.  *whispers* I may have loved it more than the the Kiss of Deception books.  Kazi and Jase are fierce and crafty and loyal af.  Oh and they’re both so stubborn, so you know that makes for some excellent banter and kissing.  I can’t wait for book 2.

the cruel prince by Holly Black — 5★ — I was pushed and pushed and pushed to read this book and I finally caved.  I know this book has a lot of polarizing reviews and all I will say is that I don’t normally read faerie books, but Holly is queen of faeries and she definitely retains her crown.

The wicked king by Holly Black — 5★ — well, of course I read this immediately and I don’t have words for the amount of fuckery.  The ending legit slayed me and the idea that I have to wait an entire year for book 3 might kill me even more.

i had all three of these books for over 6 months. clearly present stacee needs to go shove past stacee for waiting so long to read them.

to obama: with love, joy, anger, and hope
by Jeanne Marie Laskas — 5★ —  i loved the idea of this story and it didn’t disappoint.  i loved the backstories of the letter writers and the entire process of how the letters were chosen.  I especially loved seeing how Obama responded to the various topics.

Ten Kisses to Scandal by Vivienne Lorret — 5★ — this was a bunch of fluff and banter and kissing and it was perfection.  I loved the characters and the plot and I’m sure I’ll be reading this one again.

the gilded wolves
by roshani chokshi — I legit have no idea what this book is about, but it’s Roshani, so I’m in.  Added bonus: that cover.

a curse so dark and lonely by brigid kemmerer —  I have loved the other books I’ve read from her and I just recently found out this was a Beauty and the Beast retelling, so I’m even more excited.

99 Percent mine by Sally Thorne — I really enjoyed The Hating Game and I’m here for the banter.  Fingers crossed this one has it.

she lies in wait by Gytha Lodge —  It’s been a while since I read a murdery-adult book and this one sounds absolutely delicious.

So, as I said above, I’m going to make this a monthly thing.  I’m still not entirely sure about the format or what I want to include, etc…so bear with me.

And now, what about you? Have you read any of these books or do you want to?

I just bought Dance of Thieves, but haven’t started it yet. I bought it after reading the first few pages and was sold. I enjoy when bloggers post mini reviews as I don’t need a rehashing of the plot (I can get that on goodreads) and just want to know if it was loved or not.
