The time it was Reading Rewind {18}

Hi guys! Here we are for another episode of Reading Rewind!

I’ll be completely honest: I am totally cheating on this one.  I don’t think it’s a secret that I’ve been struggling with the blog lately.  I keep planning to come back to posting, but I haven’t been able to actually get to it. However, since I did a reread of something this month, I’m going to utilize that!

This month’s choice was The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin and yes, I do have three hardcovers.

1. When did you originally read the book and what did you rate it?

I originally read this in October of 2014 and rated it 5 stars.  It’s also on a few extra shelves: all of the stars, all of the swoons, and will forever reread.  Funny story, I was actually at Disneyland when I got the call from Mysterious Galaxy telling me that my order of Retribution was in stock.  It was a few days before the official release and there was no way I was waiting, so I made Hubs leave DL to go get it.

2. Why did you love it?

My review said:

I know I didn’t absorb everything I should have, so as soon as I’m finished with the reread of Evolution, I’ll read it again to savor it.

I’m legit cracking up at that review.

3. After the re-read did your rating/feelings about it change? Why or why not?

After the reread, I’m keeping my rating at 5 stars {or all of the stars}.   I’m binge rereading all of the books before I start The Reckoning of Noah Shaw and I have to say, it’s been worth it x a million.

I still love Mara and Jamie.  I’m still convinced Daniel is the best brother ever and Noah will forever be my favorite.  Nothing has changed there.

I’ve picked up so many little details and this trail of bread crumbs that I didn’t see or pay attention to the first time I read everything.  Especially in the “before” chapters with Mara’s grandmother.  It’s been so satisfying and it’s made my excitement level go up so much.

Oh and FYI: in case you didn’t know, the Mara Dyer books have been continued! The Becoming of Noah Shaw is out now and book 2 — The Reckoning of Noah Shaw — is out in November.  I’m only making a point to say this because every time I mention the Noah books, at least 3 people tell me they had no idea the books existed.
