The time it was a monthly recap {29}

Posted December 1, 2017 by Stacee in Monthly Recap, Signings | 3 Comments

You guys. It’s now December.  2017 is almost over and I can’t believe it…

Somehow I forgot to do a recap for October.  Well, not “somehow”.  We went on a roadside attractions road trip for the last week and a half of the month and I just never got around to doing it.  So, I’m going to sort of combine the months.  {And if you want to see things like the world’s largest ball of twine or the world’s largest hand painted Czech egg, you can see photos on my personal IG.}

Settle in.

In October, I read a total of 20 books, but I’m not going to list them here.  Last month, I read a total of 22 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}

I did a beta read for Ashley Elston’s 2018 book The Preacher Woods, so that one isn’t up there.  Heads up, it’s amazing and you should add it to your TBR immediately.

I’ve read 262 books in 2017 so far.  I think everyone knows that I didn’t set up a GR challenge because I wanted to see how many I would read without one, right?  Besides, after exceeding last year’s challenge {I read 367 out of my goal of 365}, it’s been nice not having the pressure of having to read something.  I am curious to see what my final number for the year will be.

  • Swoon Reads sent me an arc of Suitors and Sabotage
  • Entangled Teen sent me a box with a finished copy of Haven + all sorts of goodies including chocolate, a mug, and a tote
  • I got my greedy hands on an arc of Hero at the Fall.

  • Disney sent me a box for The Belles that included a mirror, mask, and glitter covered macarons.
  • Disney also sent an arc package for Unearthed that included a totebag, canteen, star pencil, and so much glitter and confetti I’m still picking it up.
  • And I was sent a mailing to promote the movie Wonder and it included a finished copy of movie the tie-in and the most delicious cookies I’ve ever had.
  • HMH Teen sent me an arc of Girl Made of Stars and Fierce Reads sent me an amazing mailing for Children of Blood and Bone.

Fangirled over:

  • Michelle Hodkin came to San Diego and I was asked to be the moderator! It was so awesome getting to talk with Michelle and ask her silly and serious questions, get my books signed, and basically just not let my fangirl heart explode.
  • I ended up helping with the signing line {there was a great turnout for such short notice!} and then again when she signed stock for the store. It was so much fun to be able to just spend some time with Michelle and the other lovelies from Mysterious Galaxy in a super relaxed situation.
  • I did record the talk and I’m planning on transcribing it, but I’m not sure when I will.  Plus, those three photos above are all I have from the event.

Interviewed:

  • The special editions of ADSOM came out on my anniversary/Halloween/while we were on vacation.  More specifically, we were in a tiny town in Kansas and the nearest B&N was over 100 miles away.  Thankfully, I am married into some amazing family because everyone was just fine with taking a drive for me to get the silver copy.
  • My Harry Potter tattoo was featured on People Magazine’s Snapchat.  After Melissa told me about it, I joined Snapchat for like 5 seconds to see for myself.  And while it was mostly a mash up of the EW feature, it was pretty fucking cool.

  • Fangirling over: Christina Lauren and Leigh Bardugo
  • Reading Rewind: I mean, yeah? We all know I’ve had the book sitting on my coffee table for like 29473928374 weeks.
  • Discussion post: Perhaps. Probably.  I have the topic outlined…
  • Special Stuff: Many screenings of The Last Jedi + a few holiday shows.

I’ve been pretty neglectful of the blog in November.  First it was the vacation, then I got my foot tattooed {which is an entirely different story}, and then it was Thanksgiving. Oh, and we binged both seasons of Stranger Things, so I’ve been busy buying all of the Dustin, Steve, and Hopper things + falling down the rabbit hole of interviews and appearances.

I’m almost caught up on my review books and December is a slow month, so I’m hoping I’ll be back to 100% on all things {including social media, replying to comments, and visiting blogs} soon soon soon.

Thank you a million times over for sticking with me! *squeezes*

How about you? How was your October and November? What was your favorite read for the month?

  2. I can’t believe I have missed so many of your posts! I love the cover of Beasts Made of Night. And of course that Haven Bookstagram photo is still one of my all time favorites. Who knew there was an artistic way to shape shredded tissue paper. I also enjoyed your road trip photos.
